AI-Generated Text: Here’s What You Need to Know About ChatGPT, Google, and the Future of Writing

The talk about artificial intelligence (AI) is escalating.

I don’t know about you, but AI writing tools, AI text generators, AI writers, and Chat GPT have been all over my feeds lately.

And for a good reason. These tools are game-changers in a lot of ways.

Artificial intelligence is becoming more mainstream in our society, permeating many areas of our everyday lives and becoming more prominent daily.

AI writing tools are getting much attention today because they are improving at creating content that could pass for human-generated.

AI-generated text is taking over the internet for better or for worse. More people can write blogs, articles, and other content automatically with an AI content generator.

Text generation from an AI text generator such as Jasper.ai or ChatGPT can produce machine-generated text based on the inputs you give and automatically generate text created by AI.

But is AI good or bad for writers and content creators? What is Google going to do about it? Will AI text affect my blog’s rating? Many questions need answering.

As with any new technology, there are positives and negatives. Read on to find out what AI text generators are, what Google plans to do with AI text and the benefits of AI-generated text.

What Is An AI Text Generator?

We first must ensure you know what we’re talking about with AI text generators.

An AI text generator is a software tool that uses artificial intelligence to produce written content. An AI text generator is also called an AI writing tool, AI writing software, an AI writer, or some combination.

AI-powered writing tools are trained on large datasets of existing text, which they use to learn the style and structure of writing. This allows the AI text generator to produce content that sounds human-like and can be used for a variety of purposes, such as writing articles, blog posts, product descriptions, and more.

There are two main types of AI text generators: neural networks and natural language processing (NLP) models. Neural networks generally produce higher-quality results but require more training data, while NLP models are often easier to use but may produce lower-quality results. Both types of AI text generators can be effective in generating written content.

Today’s main AI text generators are NLPs, such as

There are now many more writing tools available, but those three are the top ones we recommend.

Is Having AI Generate Text Cheating?

AI content generators such as Jasper and ChatGPT are becoming smarter every day. While they cannot replace human writers (yet), they raise questions of ethics when using AI. So is AI-generated text cheating? Or does it enhance the writing process?

It depends on how you use the AI text generator and the generated text’s purpose. Using an AI text generator to produce content for a school assignment or a job application would generally be considered cheating, as it would not be your own work, and it would be dishonest to present it as such.

On the other hand, if you are using an AI text generator to assist with the writing process or to generate ideas, it may not be considered cheating as long as you are transparent about the role of the AI in the writing process and you add your own original thoughts and ideas to the text.

As a writer, I don’t consider using AI tools cheating. But I also don’t 100% rely on them for my work. I use them for ideas and for filler information. Every time I have submitted a blog that was partially written by AI, the feedback has been the same: “it seems a bit generic and unfeeling.”

If you get AI to write all your work, people won’t like it, and Google won’t rank it. People want AI to do all their writing, but people don’t want to read AI writing. I recommend using it for outlines, title ideas, and general knowledge (which you must double-check to ensure accuracy).

Now you have an exact plan for what you can write about. Write your blog yourself and use AI writing tools to supplement your original content. This will improve your writing speed but also ensure your blog doesn’t get flagged as AI-written by Google.

You need to use AI as a tool, not a replacement. Plus, if you are honest and transparent about using any tools or resources in your work, you should be able to use AI-generated text to supplement your original material.

Are Google and ChatGPT Working on Watermarking AI-Generated Text?

Watermarking AI-generated text refers to adding a visible or invisible mark to the text that can be used to identify it as being generated by an AI system. This could be useful for various purposes, such as identifying whether an AI system has generated content to understand its quality better or to ensure that it is properly attributed.

OpenAI, the corporation behind ChatGPT, has announced plans to introduce a new watermarking feature to help Google detect AI-generated text. According to the information provided, the watermarked text in ChatGPT will include cryptography by embedding a unique word pattern, letters, and punctuation as a secret code. This process of changing the word pattern used in the generated content is intended to serve as a watermark, allowing the system to determine whether an AI text generator produced the text quickly.

With this new watermarking feature, Google can detect AI-generated text and distinguish it from human-written content. This could be a positive development for those concerned about the impact of AI on the quality of online content, as it will allow Google to identify and filter out low-quality or misleading content that AI systems have generated. It is unclear when this new feature will be rolled out or how it will be implemented in practice.

What Are the Benefits of Using AI-Generated Text?

Now that we have scared you about using AI writing tools, maybe we should tell you why they are so great. While there are downsides to using AI-generated text (like being flagged for being AI-generated), there are several potential benefits.

  1. Efficiency: AI-generated text can be produced much faster than human-generated text, which can be helpful in situations where a large volume of content needs to be produced quickly.
  2. Consistency: AI-generated text can be more consistent than human-generated text, as it is not subject to the same variations in quality that can occur when different people write content.
  3. Cost-effectiveness: In some cases, AI-generated text may be less expensive than human-generated text, mainly if it is used to produce a large volume of content.
  4. Customization: AI-generated text can be customized to meet specific requirements or to address specific audiences, which can be helpful when tailored content is needed.
  5. Improved accuracy: In some cases, AI-generated text may be more accurate than human-generated text, as it can be trained on large amounts of data and less prone to errors or biases.

AI-generated content can help writers create better content because they can write details faster. They research and write what they uniquely read on the internet. However, it is recommended that you use AI-generated content for ideas and broad topics, not for writing your entire articles.
